Week #3: My Chin, the third arm!

I realized rather quickly that when she is eating I am completely immobile OR am I. I found what I am calling every mothers third arm: THE CHIN!!! This discovery has made everything a little bit easier especially eating. I shall never go hungry again. Cory still makes fun of me, but I do not have ginormous arms like he does and can hold the bottle and the baby with one hand. =(
So I am pleased to say that we are blessed with a fantasticly perfect baby. Not just because she is cute and rolly polly, but mainly because she sleeps through the night!! If I could let her she would go 8 hours. I still have to wake her up at night to feed her, but she is sound asleep when I do so. I can't wait until I no longer need to wake her up at night. I am going to start transitioning her into larger meals and shorter time between feedings. We shall keep our fingers crossed that she maintains her sleeping patterns.
Okay, so I really enjoy dress up with her!! We go through at least 2 costume changes a day. So, are absolutely necessary due to exlposions, but most of the time and am just ready to prance her around in another adorable outfit. We have been blessed with fantastic friends and I have only bought maybe 4 outfits so far for her. I am definitely not opposed to hand me downs. Cory's co-worker is going to stop by at each size milestone and drop off a huge bag of clothes. Lucky for us her daughter was born around the same season so all of the clothes are season appropriate. Also, one of Cory's friends from Houston gave us over 4 large trash bags full of clothes from 0-3 all the way up to 12 mos. Also, luckily her child was born in the summer as well so all of the clothes are season appropriate. This is not saying that I am not going to buy any clothes for my little sweet pea as I cannot resist stopping by the baby clothes sections at every store I go to. =) They are just too cute!!! My neighbor got her the cutest little onesie with a tutu attached. I can't wait until she is able to fit into it!!

Week #2: Poop! Poop, poop, poop, and more poop!!! =/

There is no way something that small has created something that . . . eck!!! I swear all I am doing is changing diapers. I believe I am doing that more than feeding her and she eats 10 times a day, more if she is going through a growth spurt.

Being home is definitely much harder than being at the hospital. I am ready for someone to bring me my lunch, remind me to take my pain meds before I start hurting, and clean my room. Why do they make it so easy in the hospital. I almost want them to make me fend for myself so that when I get home it is not such a shock. The thing that I did miss was the rolly crib. I really missed the rolly crib. She was so easy to cart around!!! I think God heard my prayers because on the second day at home one of Cory's co-workers came over with a bassinet for me to borrow and IT ROLLS!!!! I was beyond excited.

Our little one lost a lot of weight in the hospital, too much almost. She lost almost 10% of her body weight.  =(  They were dangerously close to giving her a supplement to help her gain. But do not fear "Heifer Lindsey" is here! I got home and started pumping to make sure that she was getting enough milk at each feeding since she would fall asleep every time she would nurse. After experiencing pumping I really need to find a way to apologize to every milk cow out there. That is not the most comfortable feeling. I was waiting for someone to slap me on the butt and move me down the line. At least when the cows are being milked they get to eat. I still have not mastered the art of the pump. We went in for her appointment after being sent home from the hospital and she was 7lbs 6ozs. "Heifer Lindsey" saves the day again! After her 2 week appointment she weighed in at 8lbs 6ozs and 21 1/2 inches long.

Week #1: Here she comes!!

Okay I know that I am really behind on my posting so I have decided to go back to the beginning and start from there.

I met with my doctor on Monday, June the 27th for my final visit. Much to my dismay my blood pressure was still fluctuating. So, my doctor decides that this little tyke needs to come out. I was definitely on board!!! I was ready to be a mom and ready to be done being pregnant!! I was not ready for her to tell me that it would happen in two days =\.  I guess we had better get ready for baby. Can you believe it that I had still not packed a bag for the hospital. So I went to work to break the news to my boss. You see the biggest event of the year was to be held on that upcoming Saturday and I had to break the news to everyone that I was going to be gone starting Wednesday. Needless to say he did not take it all that well =).
Wednesday morning came, bright and early 5:30 AM!! I am not sure if I was more excited about being a mom or about not being pregnant anymore, either way I was pretty excited. We were scheduled to leave for surgery at 7:30 AM, but they had a few emergencies that had to take precedence.  Finally around 8:30 AM we were off to the OR. That has to be the coldest room in existence!! Did not make it very easy to relax and keep still when they were putting in the epidural, I kept shivering. They made Cory wear the funny scrubs and of course they could not find any pants to fit him so he was wearing some awesome high waters. =) The only crazy part about the surgery was when I smelled my burning flesh. Luckily at the time I did not know it was me that smelled like that, but later Cory revealed the truth about that horrible burning smell I asked him about. Within 20 minutes we were parents. It was really easy and quick. I am pretty sure I am going to do that again for the next one, 2-3 years from now though, just not anywhere near ready to do the pregnant thing again.
Audrey Lynne Flippin was born @ 8:52 AM on 6/29/11 weighing in at 7lbs 9oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Just the beginning of our Flippin family.

Home Stretch

Well we only have a little over a week left!!! Thankfully!! I am not sure if my feet can take much more of this swelling.

I went to the doctor on Monday and unfortunately I have high blood pressure. I think it was a fluke though. I checked my blood pressure on Saturday and it was 106/60. I went and bought a blood pressure monitor and I am now psychotically checking my blood pressure every chance I get. This morning it was 102/59 so I think I am fine. It must have been the 2 hours of walking outside I did right before my appointment. Yeah, I know I will cut that out. It was great to hear Cory tell me that I am completely off the hook for anything around the house!! He told me that I have to come home and put my feet up and do nothing!! Wahoo!!! Free ticket to be lazy!!!

Baby update: Well that little stinker is not dropping. =( She is nice and cozy up there squeezing my bladder like it is her favorite toy and kicking my ribs like a bongo drum. Oh well, one last appointment on the 27th and we will see if she is ready to make her great public debut.

Doctors, Doctors, Doctors

I went to see my doctor again on Monday. I was hoping that she would magically make everything progress, but it looks like nothing has happened. The baby is still head down, but not ready for the world quite yet. Have I told you that I am not a huge fan of surprises. This anticipation is killing me. Not knowing when it is going to happen. At any moment I am going to seriously pee my pants in public and take the largest poop of my life!!! I went ahead and packed my bag just in case if anything does happen, I am secretly hoping that if I get prepared the universe will understand that I am ready and we can go ahead with this labor thing. But I guess I will just have to wait.
I did meet with a Pediatrician yesterday and he is awesome - Dr. Bill!! I know that I am going to be one of "those" parents, always calling about the smallest little tiny thing. So, Laura, Dad you guys need to be prepared for those 2am calls from me asking if their poop is actually supposed to look like that OR is that little tiny freckle on their bottom a rash or just a freckle? I do like the fact that when I do call after hours at the Pediatrician's office I will get either one of the Doctors, NOT a nurse, medical assistant or answering service. Dr. Bill and Dr. Pete rotate calls and answer any questions themselves. I told him I would try my best to keep the calls to a minimum, but it's their mistake for not charging for any after hours calls. =)

Home Alone!!!

I am trying to relax and enjoy probably my last quite weekend. Cory and the pup are off at Lake Summerville for his family reunion, I completely forgot about it and ended up scheduling an event for this weekend. So I do have to work, but at least I get to enjoy peace and quite. This is one of my favorite events, the Mother Son Luau. The boys and moms have a great time spalshing in the pools and playing fun games, makes me wish I was having a boy. However, the Daddy Daughter Dance makes me cry every year and I know I am going to loose it when Cory is there with our little lady.

Baby Update: I have finished taking all of my prenatal classes from the Hospital. I feel far more informed, not ready, but informed. I did find out that I am a fantastic swaddler, that's a plus! However, I am still not 100% on the whole diaper thing. How far back does it go? How far in the front? So many questions. My poor kid will probably be wearing a diaper on her head! And the poop, I won't disgust you with the poop, but if I have to see one more picture! ech!

Ready for Baby!!!

Well, we have 5 weeks to go!!! We hope that we are ready to begin this next journey in our lives. I know that I am definitely ready, or at least ready to be done being pregnant!!! My ankles are the size of watermelons, I am only sleeping about 3 hours a night, and every time that I ask my doctor what might be wrong she just answers with, "Well you are pregnant." Duh!
I will be meeting with the doctor every Monday in June. So hopefully we will get a better estimate on the size of my little giant baby. Last time we checked they said that she was about 17 inches long, that was in late MARCH!!
I am feeling more prepared with all of the classes that I have been going to. They are long and packed full of information, but at least I know more than I did when I started. I also realized last week that I have NEVER changed a diaper!!! This is going to be an adventure! =)
I will try my best to keep everyone informed as to what is happening in our little Flippin world, definitely with pictures at least.
We love you all and can't wait to introduce our little peanut to everyone!
